About Dr. Martin Blank

Dr. Martin Blank was one of the world’s leading EMF scientists, academics and activists for over 30 years.

He performed decades of research at Columbia University Medical School and the US Office of Naval Research. Among many other roles, Dr. Blank was the spokesman for the global scientists appeal on EMF radiation submitted to the United Nations, an author of the BioInitiative Report, presided as president of the Bioelectromagnetics Society (BEMS), served as an invited expert regarding EMF safety for Canadian Parliament, for the House Committee on Natural Resources and Energy (HNRE) in Vermont, and for Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court. He is also the author, along with his son R Blank, of Overpowered.

This scholarship was established in 2020 in Dr. Blank’s memory, by his son, R Blank, in collaboration with the Building Biology Institute, with the goal of expanding knowledge of EMF health and safety to a community that has traditionally been under-represented in this field.

Above is the video of Dr. Blank announcing the International’s EMF Scientist Appeal. Dr. Blank brought over 30 years of experience conducting EMF research at Columbia University and served as president of the Bioelectromagnetics Society. In his own words, Dr. Blank gives a compelling explanation of the global public health crisis we are now facing due to increasing levels of environmental pollution from electrical and wireless infrastructures and devices that are supported by a multitude of EMF sources.

About the Building Biology Institute

The Building Biology Institute’s mission, now in its 33rd year, is to help create healthy homes, schools, and workplaces free of toxic indoor air, tap-water pollutants, and hazards posed by electromagnetic radiation.

The BBI fulfills its mission by guiding both the general public and working professionals (architects, builders, engineers, interior design professionals, physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners, real estate professionals, etc.) to an understanding of the vital and complex interrelationship between the natural and built environments, and teach them the means for merging these complementary environments into greater harmony and planetary health.

About the BBA Certification

Designed for environmentally conscious people from all walks of life, Building Biology Advocate (BBA) certification will give you the knowledge and skills with which to improve your own dwellings and workplaces, and educate others in this increasingly vital area of public health and well-being. BBA certification is also ideal for students and industry professionals who are seeking to complement their credentials in such fields as architecture, city planning, green building, interior and landscape design, Feng Shui, natural health, and the practice of medicine.

Please note that Building Biology Advocates (BBAs) are certified in Building Biology theory, but are not certified to assess, identify, and/or mitigate indoor environmental hazards to human health. Prior alumni of this program are Building Biology Practitioners (BBP), and they are subject to the same limitations stated as our BBAs are, here above.
